This restaurant has a large International menu inspired by Mediterranean cuisine using local ingredients. There is something for everyone! This would be one of the more lively and slightly larger venues we are suggesting, with a great atmosphere, roof top dining and live music.
the seafront, with views of the Caribbean sea. They offer a menu based on seafood, with several options for meat eaters and vegetarians too. Gourmet tacos, seafood dishes, raw bar style shellfish on ice, it's all very fresh and flavourful!
This is a tiny gem located in the least expected spot, several streets in from the beach, it's popular with the affluent locals. We found it by chance walking past it and the aromas from the kitchen pulled us in for a closer look. Based on Italian cusine, the chef here makes fresh pasta, pizza and several dishes that are each more mouth watering than the next. The setting is street side, in a very quiet part of the town, the place is tiny and the food is very fresh and very appetising!
This Michelin review says it all: You’ll have an excellent vantage to see the nearby shore from this second-floor perch, whose thatched roof and open-air plan allow the welcome ocean breeze to circulate. Better still, you can enjoy the view alongside a bountiful menu of memorable seafood offerings and tropically inflected cocktails. Shareable starters include puffy gorditas filled with roasted octopus, salsa verde, and melty quesillo, as well as an assortment of vibrant and inventive ceviches and aguachiles. Mains are likewise not boxed in by tradition, with typical Mexican flavors alongside the likes of Provençal butter and horseradish aïoli. With so many options to choose from, decisions can be a challenge, but the friendly staff will be only too happy to steer you in the right direction.
A new establishment which opened up at the beginning of the year, this place has set itself apart for it's slow cooking methods for meat dishes and gourmet taco style dishes. Set in a very pretty courtyard, the staff are very nice and the food is prepared with quality local ingredients. This place is also known for it's little tequila shop, offering a range of small batch tequilas and Mezcals.
A quintessential little restaurant tucked away in a quiet un assuming street, John Greys serves delicious American cuisine made from fresh local ingredients. This is a a bit more upscale for Purto Morales, yet it also offers a down to earth relaxed garden atmosphere when choosing to dine outside.
Located in a beautiful garden terrace, this restaurant offers an upmarket service complemented by tantalising local cuisine with an international fusion, especially from the Mediterranean. Relax in this peaceful atmosphere while your tastebuds are teased with wonderful flavours, using only the best local ingredients. Taninos is also well known in the area for a good selection of wines.
ALUX Restaurant, Bar and Lounge is located within the depths of a natural formed cavern. Upon arrival one may be forgiven for wondering where they have arrived at, on a typical Mexican main road in the back of Play Del Carmen. However all is revealed upon entering the cave interiors which have metamorphosed for millions of years to create the visual spectacle of countless stalactites. It doesn't stop there! Alux offers a fine Mexican and International Cuisine. The enigmatic energy of the ancient Mayans is felt everywhere in this Cenote Cavern. You may request a very private nook for just you and your guest or you may request to sit in one of the main caves and wonder at natures formations!
